Smith sponsors Stanwood High School student as page in state House

Stanwood High School student Malena Reyes traveled to Olympia Feb. 6-10 to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by her 10th District Rep. Norma Smith, R-Clinton.
Malena lives in Stanwood with her mother, Trella. She plays in the Stanwood High School band, and has a keen interest in marine biology and history.
“I am so thankful for Malena's service as a page last week,” said Smith. “I believe it's critical for our young people to get involved in their state government, and that's why the House Page Program is invaluable. I hope Malena had a great time here and made lasting memories.”
While serving as a House page, Malena attended page school, delivered messages and documents to legislators and staff, and fulfilled other tasks critical to the efficient operation of the Legislature.
Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.
