Student Pages for Representative Norma Smith

Sixteen-year-old Annalies Schuster traveled to Olympia to page in the House of Representatives Feb. 14-18. She was sponsored by her 10th District Representative Norma Smith. Schuster is a home-schooled 10th grader from Langley and is the daughter of Linda and Douglas Schuster.

Each day Schuster attended page school to learn about the legislative process. As part of her duties, Schuster distributed documents and notes to legislators and staff on the House floor, as well as around the Capitol campus.

“It has been a delight having Annalies in Olympia this week serving as a page and learning more about the legislative process,” said Smith, R-Clinton. “Annalies is active in her community, and is a joy to those that know her. I sincerely hope she continues pursuing her interest in public service, as young leaders like her are vital to the future of Washington state.”

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the legislative page program. Students spend a week attending page school, learning the inner working of state government and assisting legislators on the House floor.
